Hello Gentlemen,
I have been quoted a bit over $1000 to have my GU ute front wheel bearings checked, cleaned and repacked with grease and have the swivel joints overhauled (ie new bearings, seals etc) Does this sound like a reasonable price? I was told there is approx. 7 hours labour involved.
Regards
Brett

Brett
I did my Maverick last year as you described - only that included new wheel bearings - not cleaned and re-packed as your quote
Swivel hub kits are are around $180 per side and include all seals and bearings
Wheel bearing kits are around $102 per side
I am quoting prices from a bearing
shop - So costs there would be around $564. As this is what I paid
Labour - It took me all day (not in any rush) - so at the difference of say $436 divided by 7 hours quoted I would be of the opinion it seems OK - (only for new bearings not cleaned and re-packed).
Regards
Vinnie

They are a tad expensive to buy aren't they. Specially the more popular brands.

Hi,
Seven hours is a long time....
If he has the right
tools and doesn't stuff about, it should not even take 4 hours.
I would get another quote. (it is only about 30 nuts and bolts to undo and do up again, and that includes the wheel nuts).
Cheers
