I am planning to head up into the hills north of
Melbourne on Sunday with my two sons for some fun & driving practice. One is on L & the other P plates.
Robin Miller previously mentioned the Mt Margret area out from
Buxton but, as I have never ventured up there, I was wondering what I could expect? I am quite familiar with the
Warburton to
Woods point road & the tracks heading into the big river area but am always interested in something a bit different!
I actually found my old mud / snow chains today & fitted them. First time in probably 15 years!

We havent been up for about 3 years but its a bit of fun and avoids the fees at
Lake Mountain. 4wd is probably needed with snow and some spots can get quite deep. Have fun. Chris.

Thanks Chris.
Just noted on the alpine road closures that
Lady Talbot Drive & Mt Margret Rd. were closed on the 17th of July due to snow & storm conditions - my head over towards
Woods Point.
