I was looking at all the Magellans and they all seem to be uprights, I can remember when I had an upright Garmin 12 and the damn thing used to get a whip up in the Cradle so bad you couldn't read it, Now I use the Horizontal type and they don't move, check the range and the Quest Demo I done on my web site and Johnny Appleseed site

Thanks for those links.
What I am after is the upright type as it will be fitted to the dash, not in a normal mount.
It does not need to have the maps, but need the numerical buttons to load up way points a bit quicker than the scroll system that some units employ.
I have seen a magellen FX324that looked good but have not been able to track one down yet.

gday, Dont know where you are based but I got my Magellin Explorist at the Marine Shop in Melton.
Great family business, good prices and have stock on the shelf.
I've used mine with awesome results on land and sea.
