I have a 2003 Holden Rodeo RA 3ltr TD. It has become hard to start on cold mornings, but once started runs great and is easy to start all day. Is my problem glow plugs? I have recently installed a new battery. Thanks Jim

If it's 'really cold' could have same problem as a frined who found his fuel was 'waxing up'. Poured some particular additive into the tank and solved problem after cleaning pump and filters. Was told that it is not an uncommon problem in some areas during winter although areas know for extreme low temperatures are suppled with (I think he said) 'Alpine-Mix/Formula' distillate. Hope it helps.

It is quite normal - leave the glow plugs to glow twice as long before starting and be prepared to crank twice as long before the engine starts. Any longer and get the glow plugs checked.

It is a standard process every cold morning here in Canberra and we have alpine fuel.

Change the glow plugs. From $50 - $120 a set depends on type. Takes about 1 hr max to do the job on a cold engine.
