Just heard on the radio that the Queensland Government is going to purchase a
Cape York Station for $6m and hand management to the Steve Irwin trust.
Does Anybody have further details?
Regards
Kim

Yes Kim FYI,
Queensland Government purchasing land on
Cape York, as per Steve Irwin trust. Land will be protected as crocks sanctuary and managed by Australia Zoo. Ideally this area should be used as research area for crocodiles and other fauna and flora.
It is too early to say, if we, “normal” *people will be restricted to that area or not.

Thanks for that
A friend rang me about an hour ago, and seemed to think it is some where around
Weipa.

It appears this area is going to be for research not for tourists.

It's NOT the Queensland government that's forking up the $6 million, it's the Federal Government with the state government "cooperating" in the deal. Our illustrious Mr. Beattie doesn't have the foresight for something like that.
Just setting the record straight.

Thanks Geoff
Just heard a report to support your post. It's in the
Weipa area at the top end of
Cape York.
I'll follow up during the week and report back.
