Hello everyone, I've just been to an Aldi store for the first time. There they had a 9500lb winch in an opened box that was reduced to $399(last one in my town). Would anyone be kind enough to give me a hand/list with all the parts that are meant to be included in the box as I'm interested in buying it. I have a 2000 VX Prado with an ARB deluxe winch bullbar and dual batteries. I think I know all the arguments about these particular cheap
winches but I dont do extreme 4wding and think this winch will do me fine. But if there is any new important info about these
winches, for and against, please tell me.

I would expect the winch with motor, winch cable and gear box in one heavy part, the solenoid pack with cover and the leads to the motor, the positive lead(long cable) to the battery - which may be connected to the solenoid pack, the hand operating cable with a plug one end and the hand operated switches the other and finally for those a remote. Some bolts to fix the winch to the bullbar.

Thanks John, the items you mentioned are there and there are also heaps of small bolts and various types of brackets but no instructions booklet. Also I dont recall any rollers that you can usually see the cable exiting through. Are these rollers usually attached to the winch or the bullbar? Maybe they are on the winch but I cant remember seeing them.
Cheers

If the roller fairlead and/or hook is missing and that is all that is stopping you, then I may be able to assist you there. I have a roller fairlead and a standard hook off a Warn 9000XD winch sitting in my garage, as I have replaced cable with synthetic rope , so I have a aluminium hawse and a safety hook.
The roller fairlead usually attaches to the fronto of the winch through the bullbar, utilising 2 of the 4 bolts.

Thankyou John and Roachie, I will go back to the store tommorow and look again. Maybe I could get them to drop the price even more. Also do you think I would need to get a hold of the instructions from somewhere?
Cheers

Instructions would be handy, but if the unit is anything like a Warn, the bolts and cables are colour-coded and very easy to work out how to wire-up.

Hello again Roachie, I've bought the winch today without the roller fairlead but the hook is there. Thankyou for your offer. How much would you like for your roller fairlead and how would I get it here to
Geelong in Victoria? Ive never dealt over the internet like this before.
Regards Boris.

Hi Boris could you please keep us updated on how the winch install goes as I'm keen to get one as
well from our local Aldi but was unsure of the install into my TJM steel winch bar for my 100 L/C ??
Regards J.B.

May install it later in the week with my mechanic. I've never installed one before and my mechanic mate has only reinstalled a winch once just a week ago and seems to be confident. From what I've seen with my bullbar we just lift it into place and bolt it in and then wire it up. I have a feeling from reading previous posts that I may have to rotate the end of the winch so that a lever is facing the right way up. We'll see when the time comes and I'll let you know how we go.
Cheers
