G'day All,
Mate of
mine has gort a KIA Sportage and is having some dramas with what we think is the computer.Symtoms are lack of acceleration and lack of power and running rough and worst case it stalls. Now the mechanics have reset the computer and say that they have no idea what it the problem may be.and it does not happen all the time just every 300-400klms. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what was the outcome.

What year ?
Two common problems that can cause this on early models;
1. O2 sensor faulty, but that should have shown up as an engine fault code.
2. Air leak on the inlet manifold, check all pipes / tubes etc.
Also, have you checked plug leads and changed the spark plugs ?

G'day Don, mate of
mine has a late model Kia
Sorrento which had some similar issues... it was an auto having 'flat spots' or 'hesitation' between 1st and 2nd especially when he gave it 'a bit'.
Kia mech's in
brisbane had no idea(throttle posn sensor was mentioned) but a friend of
mine involved in Kia down south told me of a Service Bulletin for Sorrentos in which the wiring loom into the g'box was subject to electrical interference, the fix being the install/splicing of a shielded loom into the g'box.
My mates Kia had the job done in a day and no dramas since, it also required access behind the dash i think....
would get you the s.b number but my friend is O/S.
I'ts prob a whole different issue but worth checking out. All the best.
