I am trying to remember what that rooftop tent is called which "cranks up" with a coupla handles...
It starts off like a roof pod...and goes straight up and is made from fibreglass and canvas...
Not the ones which unfold like Open Sky and such,, or the pod style one which is made by Hannibal which ends up like a wedge...

Thanks..
I actually browsed right by that one because the photo made it look like a "foldout" style roof-topper..

Voxson,
Also try this site. They have the complete range of Maggiolina roof top tents. I have seen the Columbus in action. It is up and ready to sleep in in about ten seconds and folds up just as quickly. The ones that crank up take a bit longer. I am looking at one for my 4wd. They cost around $3300 - $4000.

Yep , been there , dun that , got the pic's to show . Had a great time and anyone who hasn't been there , then go , it's worth it . Off to the
Pilbara again in about 3 weeks . All the model's have changed since we bought it . We've had it for about 11 years now and it's been all over Oz . It's suposed to be a three person sleeper , but i would'nt like to try it . We found it to be ok for two . Cheers

I noticed the mesh is a little coarse,,, does it keep out northern insects ok?
I am considering one...
Can you pack other things into it and close it like a chair/fishing rods etc?

Keeps the bugs out fine and no, you carn't pack anything else into it .Leave your bedding up there , that's about all . Ous came with a 2" fome mattress , was like sleeping on the floor . We put another 2"s of fome underneath and it to be good then . Didn't leave a lot of room for anything else . Keep in mind , thay have change'd a bit since we bought our's . Errol

I have a maggiolina safari 2, both the wife and myself are very happy with our purchase,
well worth the money. As Errol has stated you can keep all a bedding and night clothes in the tent, but that is all.
