G'day,
On our next trip, we are doing Tasmania, then mainland Australia, all round but specifically the Kimberley. We start from Melbourne travel across the Strait.
I would like to ask if any one if they have done the West Coast of Tasmania from Marrawah to Archer River-Baffour to Corrinna mainly using the C214 road or from Smithton - Edith Creek - Roger Creek - Roger Creek West - Kanunnah Bridge - Baffour - Corrinna using a combination of the C214 and the C249 roads. Are these roads in good condition for Nissan DX Patrol towing a converted Jayco Eagle Pop Top for off road? Has anyone camped along this road(track)? According to my map it shows it as a decent 4x4 track but any info about condition would be appreciated.

Any informatio would be greatly recieved

G'day
Those roads are decent dirt roads, I driven them in a Kombi, and a Magna towing a jayco camper. You will have no trouble at all. There is lots of 4x4 tracks all though this area.

G'day Dave, Thanks, that is a great help. We look forward to travelling the area. When would you advise the best time to travel through here? Any particular maps I should get ?

Thats a great area of Tassie, I took my wife over there with our 2yo son at the time several years ago. We went as far north west as you could go and went straight down the western edge of Tassie. It was such a gorgeous drive, beautiful fresh air, rolling green hills, unbelievable coast line, it was like it was nearly un touched.(Well theres a huge wind farm near the top but good to put the wind to good use!)
Theres such a diverse range of terrain it remains in my memory right up til today. From barren desert like areas to crossing a barge in the middle of the bush, to the awesome rough coast line, you never get bored!
As mentioned, its pretty fair going with a 4wd and camper, there is a long long white/yellow dirt road, maybe its the 249 you mention as I cant see the name on this map i'm looking at, I think it was called the great western explorer or something, our brakes were burning after that stint!

Anyway, hope you have a great trip, sounds like an adventure!
