G'Day everyone, i'm just wondering what the '95 dual cab turbo diesel Rodeo's are like.

Q1) Whats the standard suspension like?

Q2) Are they mechanically reliable? If not, what problems regularly occur?

Q3) Are they comfortable enough for 2 adults & 2 kids?

Any other info on these (good or bad) would be appreciated

Also, what tyres should they have on them? Lol... Looking forward to your responses.

Thanks in advance
Cheers, Brad

Brad, I previously had a 96, currently have a 02 and have a good friends that has a 96 dual cab, so here we go...

Q1) Whats the standard suspension like? Eh?? It is IFS, therefore limited in travel in the front. Ive always run fairly standard suspension, but with after market 4wd shocks. It has done the job for me. Leaf springs in the rear, great for towing, not so knind when on empty and around the time, however this can be helped with a slightly 'softer; spring, and the use of airbags for towing or carrying heavier loads.

Q2) Are they mechanically reliable? If not, what problems regularly occur? Pretty good reputation the 2.8td. Average between 9-11km per litre, regular oils changes are a must. A bit hard to start in the cold, but you get used to that. Parts can be a little pricey if you do not know where to look, thats an isuzu thing. Turbo tends to get leaky over time, but Im sure that all turbos do.

Q3) Are they comfortable enough for 2 adults & 2 kids?. Not too bad. Im 6'2" and am cramped in the back. The front seats are okay, Im not a huge fan of them for longgggg trips, but that could also be the stupidly stiff suspension the previous owner of my current vehicle put in the rear.

Q4) Tyres- 31s fit under there no worries. You may need to get the front torsion bars wound up a smidge depending on the amount of sag present, but the 31s do give it a good lift.

cheers

Mike

Should have added, 2.8td are largely the same up to early 97, after that some minor changes to driveline etc.

Gday Brad,

I have a 2002 Rodeo 3.0 TD and I'm very happy with it. Seats 4 average size adults in pretty good comfort. The standard suspension is good off road although I dont do anything too radical.
Have not had any problems mechanically.

There was a good article in March 2007 Aust. 4wd monthly on second hand rodeos. The link I have attached has info about a rodeo that was given a lift and some mechanical upgrades.
