Willie,
Do you have access to web mail/home page with your ISP, if so check if they have a spam filter you can turn on
may help it works for me

Download a copy of Mailwasher (free) and not a very big download either , you can view your mail without downloading it and delete anything you do not want...easy..great to use..free...cheers

Can't you just view your mail on your ISP, eg: Webmail, before downloading it?

I got some this morning, only 2 though, they were a blank email with a PDF attachment containing a lot of crap I didn't understand. Opened one, (is only a PDF!) and did a virus/adware/spyware check after and nothing came of it. That is IF it is the same one, was from a name I had never heard of before.

Maybe one of your friends or contacts has had their address book propagated by a Trojan sending your details to a spam operator???
However its happened, get used to it and the advice above on the use of Mailwasher is a good one.
My email address is advertised on a few international web sites, you should see the crap that I get.

G'day Willie,
Trust me it can get worse! Someone is using my email addy to spam and I cop the rejects. The weekend before last I had 117 "undeliverables". Now as this is a work email address and the content of the original email would not please my email police I have been fighting a rear guard action for about 4 weeks.
Hope you fix the problem.
Kind regards

That is correct, and they don't except that my viagra program has something to do with standing up and being counted.
Kind regards

I had a lot of problems with Spam as
well. Changing to the Firefox browser instead of Internet Explorer and using its Thunderbird email fixed most problems. The spam filters on Thunderbird seem to work very
well.

Thanks everybody - I will try some of these more drastic measures if it continues tomorrow . It's odd that it suddenly started in a rush today.

HI there , been on the internet for about 10 years now , so have had my share of problems ....
Best bet - for all email that is not of a personal nature - ie when you need to
sign up at forums , newsgroups and general online website postings , USE an email provider like hotmail - yes it take a little while longer to get your mail BUT they have a great spam filter in place and 90 % of the crap does not make it to your inbox - some forums require a ISP based email - if this is the case use it UNTILL your signed up and have not even posted 1 messages - then edit it to your secondary email address ASAP
And for Private stuff ONLY use your isp ( internet service providers ) email address for friends - family ( and people that do not mass mail as the spammers can poach email addresses this way also ) Remember if you send out a mass email - it could get forwarded to hundreds of people , and often the original posting list will be in the headers and everyone elses along the way
This way you should avoid a majority of the spam that can flood your box , Unless of coarse your looking for cheap Viagra :)
