Hi Jon
Seems to read ok , but personally stay away from Samsung products
as have found there designs to be on the cheap side performance wise.
It however claims use of Srf 111 chipset which is in my much more expensive Garmin 276c.
Pretty it does not refer to name of the installed software.
There have been a number of sub $300 units available in Aust
where there is a better chance of warranty returns.
It could be good value if you are making a price based decision
but Its already over $200 so I wouldn't pay any more.

Your best bet would be to contact people he has sold the same unit to - which can be found in his profile - just email them direct and ask them how they find the units
But in general those units are only good for street level stuff ( around town ) with correct software loaded - and are not much good for Full offroad area as the maps will not accomodate
for this you will need a GPS that can do topographical maps -- and i have not found a full GPS/ software package under 2 k (as yet )

That can happen with any software, occasionally happens with Destinator too.

Ok, lets break it down, Samsung 400 Mhz CPU .... same as used in heaps of PDAs & will give no problems.
Sirf III GPS chipset .... none better.
Route 66 software .... $190.00 on it's own. Also uses Navteq mapping, not the cr@p Sensis mapping. Navteq maps are much better in rural areas & quite a bit of the High Country. Remember Telstra owns Sensis so the maps are absoutely the bare minimum, thanks to the little Mexican bean counter!
If you can buy one for under $300 you are doing
well ..... however it won't run Oziexplorer or similar software, but it will be a very good street navigator.
I read above that you can't get a GPS with Oziexplorer for under $2000.00,
well, Mitac P350 PDA uses Windows Mobile 5, also has Samsung 400 Mhz CPU, Sirf III chipset & can be bought for around $275.00 with full car kit, but no mapping software, if you add the cost of Oziexplorer & maps to that should be
well under $600.00.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh if you want to experiment with digital navigation you can find all sorts of software to use on your laptop on Torrentz. Just remember using Torrent is not illegal but useing pirated software is... Not that I would dob anyone in.
