Hi all
I've managed to get the engine bay of my diesel rodeo all caked in mud (as you do). As a 4wd and diesel engine novice I am wondering if I can take a high pressure hose to it or is that a big no-no. Any advice on cleaning it would be much appreciated.
thanks!

Why not just use the garden hose ?
My theory is go for it & if something goes wrong then fix it & make sure it doesn't happen again, id rather it happen at home than out bush.

Don't use the hose as you'll get pinged for breaching
water restrictions.

Dio,
It depends on where you live, if you do have
water restrictions then go to a car wash place but be discrete as most operators don't like it.
Kev
PS Mt Isa for example does not have
water restrictions

Just keep clear of giving electrical things a big soaking like your alternator or use box.
if it is muddy the sooner you gt it off the easier to remove but a high pressure blast ont do it alone. You will still need to get a brush rag or whatever and rub it off as
well.
I try to avoid it as it is a pain to clean.
Also b carefull it has blocked your radiator or air cond fins. .....But don't put a high pressure hose through there.

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm not worried about hoses etc- I'll be taking it to the car wash. Its the electrical issues that David referred to that worry me most. There is a bit of mud on the radiator so if I can't use the high pressure hose there, is a regular hose ok or should I just throw a bucket of
water in there? Are the alternator and the fuse box the main things to avoid getting wet?
thanks again
Linda

Linda - the most expensive bit to fix if you flood it with
water is the engine management computer.......you will need to take out a second mortgage if you damage this.

Thanks Patrol22, sounds like I'm better off keeping mud and not washing the engine bay at all. Damn...it was so new and shiny before it went through those big puddles!! Lol.
