Hey Doug whats with the ring?
My guess it's fog and the light angle off the moon.
And yes today has been a good learning day.

G'ady Member No 1, Yep only 29 and feelin' fine.
Doug, why would you treat me with contempt my opinions are worth consideration, i think you may have got your words mixed up. Also i didn't think about the inbuilt speaker on the nuvi being inadequate like you i also listen to a bit of AM.
Two options that i have to over come this apart from your idea is a portable radio behind the drivers
seat, or a FM reciver kit from jaycar cost under $35.
I will be going to JA-GPS to have a look at the nuvi and also this speaker problem.
If Garmin don't make a remote speaker there could be a little market for this idea Doug.
Have a good day all.

Your doin' ok mate, I did say 1 or two for contempt and I can assure you your not either , your post was very sensible and a worthy one to answer and go to some effort to do so as I did by the way I found that Moon web page, Besides this is to me just text on the screen from a person of whom I do not know or met and are likely to never meet
I see you have good tastes in GPS stores too
Stephen

You never know who you might meet in life, I cant say i have had too many spelling problems on here, but grammar is another question. You have tried a different keyboard.
Maybe one not made in China

Regular occurrence here in Eildon. It is fog coming in refracting the light on a clear sky background.
Melbourne usually not clear enough to get the effect. According to the bushies, supposed to mean substantial rain in about 3 days. Don't know if that is true or not.

The ring around the moon is caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Yes, as an old 'bushy', I can say it is a pretty good guide to rain forecasting. The greater the diameter, the further distant the rain. If ring is very small, then one or two days. If ring of greater diameter, then may be three or four days away. Pretty accurate, but not always right, just as the BOM's super computer is not always right.
Those of us with farming in our veins have good reason to learn the the old indicaters of the weather, even going so far as to look outside now and then, as our fortunes are closely aligned with the weather and the environment. Farmers have been environmentalists since before the word was invented.
All the best and enjoy the rain, even as the majority of it flows out to sea in Victoria.
Regards
Mike

Boulia , thats the larger type ant , could be easily seen from in the truck , sure as eggs we got bogged 2 weeks later me, the ther company truck, the mail truck, and the grader all in the same area,
Around

Ah yes, funny about that, apart from heavy cloud the moon can usually be seen from all States - particularly easy to achieve after sunset (during darkness). Yeah - funny about that.
