We were on the Cape for 3 weeks in June.
Initially the tracks out to Chilli Beach and Frenchmans were closed but we noticed that they opened on our return from the Tip/Punsand Bay.
The OTL was no problem. All creek crossings OK including Gunshot. Telstra had been through with trucks a few weeks before and made the crossing a four lane highway!
A lot of road works on the Development Road just north of Coen and on the Bypass Road near the Capt Billy turnoff.
Corrugations overall were not too bad.
Stay at the Punsand Bay Camping and Fishing Resort if you can. A fantastic beach and great people. You can also get a good feed.
We had the experience of a lifetime and cannot wait to get back.
Have a great time.

Hi Robert,
You can also keep an eye on our Road Conditions for the Peninsula Development Road
www.exploroz.com/Roads/QLD.asp

They are updated by myself and one of our customers "Sam" at Weipa Auto Electrics, he continuously gets the latest info from travellers and locals and updates weekly or when conditions change. (expect corrugations all the time unless the work crews have graded sections)
Currently all the main tracks are open. (Nolans Brook varies .75m to 1m depending on which side of the crossing you take. Creb Track is closed still. Cape Melville/ Princess Charlotte Bay is very slow and tough going. Experienced/self sufficient travellers only))

We are also in communicatoion with Cook Shire Council for their latest reports. We also accept road conditions updates from readers as well and encourage you to add your own info to our reports.

You can even check your vehicles estimated fuel consumption for the trip.
Site Link and leave your own fuel figures to assist others in trip planning.

Enjoy the trip

Hope this is of use.
cheers

Just back on Friday. Road conditions overall are good with a lot of roadworks going on. Very dusty in some sections. All creeks are low and dropping. Gunshot Ck OK from the southern approach.
