A few months ago there was a thread on remedies for keeping cats & their business off cars.
I have tried Cat Repellant in the search engine but to no avail.
There were some very original methods as well as for keeping possums off.

Can any one remember the thread number?

Regards

John,

The high response thread was removed by the powers to be.

But from memory it was suggested not to use Cat Repellant as it attracts them instead.

The best repellant suggested was to hire Willem ;)

But seriously spray cloudy Ammonia around and that works somehow.

Hope this helps

Barry,

I had that one in my kept threads but it somehow got deleted and I thought it was deleted by the powers to be. Oh well it is now back in there.

Cheers Kev

Kev, got to sign off now ( i have been told!!) but how do you "keep A thread" for future reference? Pls keep it simple, Iam old & fragile & not very receptive if it's to technical. Thanks

Barry,

At the bottom of the opened thread there is an icon that says thread watch

click on that and it will store the thread for you for future reference. In the Thread index it will show up as a watched thread in RED.

You can also find it in your home page under the watched thread icon

Hope this helps

Cheers Kev

I recall on a television vet show them saying not to use ammonia because it smells like a cat's pee place and it will attract them to pee there. He suggested using whiskey i think.

Animal drop gate cage traps work the best, and waving goodbye after you have dropped them off at the local council pound makes it all worth the effort ;)

Gday,
Had one recently....
Finally caught it in the front yard....
Belted a big rock at it and smack, got it!
Then I realised it was hit! and hurt!
While trying to get it out of the yard I realised there was a heap of people across the road waitong for the bus watching.(6:45am)
Then a cop car pulls up out the front....He reckons I missed!
Havent had the cat back!!!!
Cheers

LOL,

You could have asked the cop to use his service revolver to get rid of it for you.

What do you mean by, "a copper cant hit anything they aim for if its further than 3 metres away". Have you had experience of this?

A loaded mouse trap on the ground works a treat....gives a new meaning to 'snappy tom'..they rarely come back for seconds.

Ring the council, they may have traps you can borrow. I rang my council for advise and they said trap them, the bluddy things were pizzen all over the property and making noises on the roof at night, on the car, they really upset me when they started spraying the bbq every night [mad, grrrr] I took the 6th to the pound this morning and still two or three to go, problem nearly solved with the councils blessing :)

John A,
I have an idea you see cars that have these protectors on them to keep the elements off do you think we could run a small copper wire thru the fabric say 5cm apart and put a low amperage current thru. some sort of regulator and just connect to car batteries. cat/possum gets on car get a mild shock gets off.
Over to the experts.
When i was growing up our cat use to get into the engine bay to stay warm one day we found that cat a few blocks from home with her stomach ripped apart (missing for 3 days) she got chewed up by the fan blades and spat out. Good news she lived to the age of 17 human years.

Regards Stephen.
