Anyone ever seen one?, My father bought one in the early fifties, there was always a prefect
sedan, or utilitiy trundling along somewhere, but i have never seen a van, apart from the one he owned, similiar thing to a morris 1000 van but a bit more sleek hahaha,.It was left on a property for years, until it got bulldozed into a hole. The things you should have hung onto!!.
Cheers Axle.

Hi
A feature of the Ford Prefect was the tail shaft rear Axle & diff was all on piece from gear box , the tail shaft was encased ,They used to wine out & we would just go to the local tip, roll one over & remove it just undo the rear springs & bolts to the gear box & hope you got a better one ,if not back the next day & try again about 1956,there was always plenty to choose from.

The white line on the speedo at 30mph was another intriguing thing .
Cheers.

Axle
the white line I think was the UK built up area speed limit in those days.
Site Link
The site is an ID site for early fords from the UK
Sometimes the model name varies from UK to Australia
IE some were called Popular and some were Prefect. The vans were also called Thames in the UK, 5cwt or 10cwt. Confusing eh!!!

My father was a mechanic for many years. He worked on heaps of them, but called them Ford Defects LOL :-)
Why are people so unkind?

There is a lad up the street with about 6 of them that he's making one from.
I can remember going around with someone who had one when I was desperate for a ride and it used more oil than petrol.
had a cousin who had a standard 8 too. That was different. Good for sneaking into the drive-inn as it didn't have a boot and you folded down the back
seat for access.
