I was wondering what the average fuel consumption of the 2H engine is in every day use around town. Especially interested in hearing from those who own troopcarriers.

I drove 2700km in the easter, had up to 7 people in the car and a fair bit of highway, and I got below 15l/100km. Thats in my HJ47 with a 2H.

I dont have any specific around town figures, but I reckon my figure is presentable as a all over one. Apperantly the economy drops after 100+ so mine might be a bit high.

This forum might be able to help you more specifically:

During a recent trip to Victoria and a week spent roaming around in Melbourne my HJ60 averaged 11.53l/100klm over 512klms driven around town.
My tyres are 31x10.50/15LT KUMHO 822s running 30lbs/sq.in.

Hi Lon
I have a 2H in my HJ75 Troopy -extractors, 3” exhaust, 16” wheels. Around town and driven passively I get 12.5 to 13 lts /100. On the highway sitting on 100 or 110 on the Hume I use 14.5 – 15lts/100km.At 90km/hr I use 13 – 13.5lts/100. When I fit the roof rack–add another 1lt /100. And towing a 1tonne boat adds another 1 lt /100km.
How do these figures compare to what you’re getting?
Cheers
Alex

We've got a standard 2H '84 troopie, and around town we get about 450k/60litres, (13-14 litres /100km) mostly because we spend time sitting in traffic going nowhere.

We get about 520 - 550k/60 litres (11 litres /100km) all loaded up with two people and a pile of camping gear. It doesn't seem to change much even when towing a trailer.

Cheers,

David.

Thanks for all the replies, I don't have a troopie yet but I'm looking to buy one in the next couple of months. Have only had experience driving the troopies with the 1HZ engines. The fuel consumption doesn't look that bad by what you guys are saying. My hilux gets 11lt/100km most of the time so it's good to know that the troopies aren't too much more - depending how you drive them I guess!
