Recently went 4wding north of
Newman in the
Pilbara. Largest open cut
mine in the world by the way. Good mining exploration tracks.
On one map it wrote there was a rough, overgrown track between two
rock pools, not recommended as one part was actually dangerous. Just north of Kalgan pool.
Well what other invitation do you need?
Steep decline, rockmelon sized loose rocks, sharp turn near the edge of the track with a steep drop off 15 metres down. The turn was too tight and for the GQ with the LSD rear and I was sliding straight for the edge on the loose rocks. But luckily the tyres gripped and i stopped before the edge, with the GQ on a 45 degree angle!
Very slowly I eased the GQ around the bend and onto safe level ground. Any less of a 4wd, or any less experience and straight over the egde I would have gone. The moral, know what you and your fourby are capable of. No photos as the other half wasn't getting out of the car with the camera for quids.

Lucky, lucky or good skills, is good to see you made it. Bet the Missus had a few words after the event.
If you want a bit more excitement, tell the locals it's not a real
mine just an oversize Quarry. I work with a lovely girl from
Newman and boy when I call it a quarry she really gets her knickers in a knot..
Have a safe one
