Howdy all,
Based on the pathetic feedback I've received from Dealers (and the money I've spent). I've decided to start a project to make a test rig for the infamous MAF sensors (based on voltage output Vs, mass air flow).
As part of this I need to source faulty units, so I can get an accurate idea on how they behave (against working units).
It would be a great help if anyone is interested /willing to give up their faulty units (as
well as the history/ symptoms).
I can be contacted at maya.keisha@hotmail.com.
Thanking you in advance.

Hi
Dingo
Can't help with faulty ones as I've never seen a genuinely faulty one.
However the output is part of a feedback loop on the car , and to test
mine
and optimize air flow I just stuck a vaccum cleaner on the outlet side and checked voltage against variations in inlet track , this enabled me to check
mine whilst on the car (similar but not same 4800 Gu).

There was some fella at the ANU in
Canberra who set up some method of showing how the MAF was faulty or how it fed data to the ECU.
Anyhow they bought out techs from japan to meet with him in the early days of the ZD30
Can't help with any more than that. Someone else may have heard of him.
