patrol power problem

Where the fuel line from the filters goes into the pump there is a little fuel basket/gauze. These can block up. Pull the line off the pump and remove the securing nut to remove the gauze and have a look if its dirty.

Have a 2006 GU ST cab chassis , got back from atrip north & got ute serviced - asked for the gauze filter in my injector pp to be checked as I lacked power too ....Surprise , on my model this filter has been discontinued , Nissan service even checked to ensure it's not there .... my lack of power was traced to dirty air & fel filters .

If she's running OK at highway speed (no problem pulling up hills or overtaking) then I very much doubt that there's a fuel problem.. If it were fuel, then it'd be more evident at higher revs (& under load) than taking off at idle...

I think you've answered your own question when you mention wheel/tyre size.. These would be significantly larger (in rolling diameter) than the originally fitted tyres, yes?

By going to larger tyres, you effectively change the final drive ratio (she's higher geared), and that is always going to make it more difficult to "lift off" on an incline, especially when towing, as the turbo is "off boost" at take-off ('till ya get some revs up, that is;-))...

hey gnome, I have an 05 4.2TD GUIV I have had the 3" exhaust done I am running the same size tyres I tow a 1T trailer for work and I some times have to engage 4wd on inclines, I have after numerous posts and trips back to Nissan come to accept that with there slightly taller gearing from previous models and bigger wheels that its the gearing not power issue.

Hey Gnome,
Check your filters, especially air filter. On my trip to the cape, the air filter was well choked by the time we reached Weipa. New filter fixed the problem.
