Hi, just wanted to know any information regarding fuel consumption and difficutly of towing camper trailer with boat in a late model turbo diesel 2.8l Triton Ute.
Would appreciate any feedback.

You won't need the boat, fuel consumption will be 25% highter than you usually get, some of the sandhills will be a pain as you will need to back down and have a second go. How are you at backing the rig and trailer down a slopping surface with deep soft sand? Some backing practice may be needed before the trip.
Are you heading North or South? Do you intend to do the full trip?

About backing a trailer down a dune, I found in the SD back in 97 when I didn't quite make it, it was easy to reverse down because the trailer followed the wheel tracks/ruts, in fact it was difficult to try and get it to turn if you wanted too

Your comments on reversing are good news, I did not tow a trailer. From recollection there are longer and higher dunes on CSR compared with SD, although some of the dunes near Big Red are high also.

doing it in 2yrs - working out that we might do about 24Litres per hundred km. (petrol landcruiser loaded not towing)
