Do you need a permit to camp in this area, around Ningaloo area or do you just go in there pay fees to whoever comes along and find camping spot on beach?

call in at Ningaloo Stn and pay your camping fees there. I think a ranger also patrols the coastline and collects the fees. Could be quite busy there this time of the year and may be hard to find a reasonable spot

You also need to have a portaloo and if not you can hire one from them, this was the case when we travelled thay way from Qld in 2005. We stayed at Warroora Station south of Coral Bay and you need one there as well or you can't camp.

Try South Lefroy bay if you are going to Ningaloo stn. Once you are at the camping area, the last 2 or 3 spots heading south are reasonably secluded and that end isn't as busy. Camp site No 1 and 2, I think.
