Hey Trev,
Yes - I collected mine in April. I have no experience with the older version so can't make a comparison. The specs remain the same - interior/dash slightly changed. I understand that consumption is slightly improved. Besides the 4wding, I also tow a boat (21ft sport boat with V8 Mercruiser - so plenty of weight there) - and have no complaints at all. I am absolutely delighted with the vehicle.
Rgds,
Johan.

1 more comment - about the engine. Not sure if it's a totally new engine or "bolt on CR technology" but sure Nissan can tell you.

Trev
I have had one of the new models for about two months.
To date the car is great and after having other 4 x 4 's the car performs well and is great on fuel. I believe the engine is new though the KW nad Torque is not that much different than the previous engine.

A bit late I know,

First question: No I dont but have driven both auto any manual variants before keeping my GU 2.8 and buying a 3l CRD SR Hilux dual cab 4x4 instead.

The 'new' 3L CRD common railer diesel is the GUIV motor with a new head (for CRD) and a few other bits. The bottom end is the same, obviously without a engine driven injection pump, so should be OK after the first bunch of detonators in the GUII. So in answer to your second question, Yes, mostly.

Other differences are that the intercooler is maounted on rails running front/rear of engine bay instead of bolted straight to motor as in the preceding models. The previous mountin system had been blamed for causing many a cracked intercooler due to engine vibration. Also the EGR system has been changed but I was not able to determine how exactly apart from the piping now being in stainless, instead of mild steel.

The new motor has its peak power (118kw) at 3200rpm instead of 3600 in the superceded model. Torque remains the same (380@2000) but the 'power' band is from 1300 to 3500 rpm instead of the superceded models 1800 to 4000rpms so its happier to tick over with less revs on the board. Still will be annoying to get rolling if towing a big load with a manual, if this is your game then get the auto. Doesnt vibrate as much as the previous model either.

Yes, the greenies killed the TD42, mores the pity. If the decent motor was still available I would have got it but the luxy is yet to dissapoint.

I wouldn't be to quick to discount the CRD Prado either as it will certaintly take the traffic light drags easily albiet with IFS.

Hope some of my dribble is helpful
Ben
