Hairy
Gday,
Without ordering from interstate and buying something Ive never seen my options in GPS units are...
Hitachi MMP 401 or 501
Uniden GNS 8350
Any ideas????
What will the Garmin nuvi660 do that the 501 wont and how compatible with other maps are they?
Cheers

Doug
looked @ the Nuvi 660. one question, can the GPS give u yr position in, UTM, degrees/decimal and/or degrees, minutes & seconds.
most maps I have looked @ have either one of these. my navman will only give, deg/min/seconds, so virtually useless for most maps.
thanks Tom

Hi Hairy,
are you a female by any chance?
If you want a PDA style gps then the Ipac rx5765 is the go, it comes with Tom Tom V6.
Or in the $550 mark is the Garmin SP c510. You could also swap face plates, so then it can match your mobile phone,
Thats not all, As a "value add" service to GPSOZ customers, they can pre-load POIs (Points of Interest) into your Gps.

When u have loaded ozi explorer use com port 5 to communicate to the gps.
Destinator will find its own port in the set-up
And you can't run destinator and ozi together you have to close one.
ozi explorer web site has a pda help section for ASUS com port settings.
GOOD LUCK it will keep you busy for a few weeks.

Hi I have the new ASUS A639 I got from world
http://.ow.com.au/shop/ASUS/Asus-A639-GPS-Pocket-PC
They had the best price at the time.and stock.good price now.$579.
I loaded Destinator 6 ,Ozi explorer ce and Hema 4WD raster map
collection my self and got it all to run. and i am a novice/idiot.
I think co-pilot may be better.
I Looked a lot of GPS'S as GPSOZ is just around the corner from my work.Brian is very help full.got all my software from him.
I just returned from a trip across the Simpson and it went great.
I went for the ASUS as for the procerrsor speed MHz.
And to use Ozi explorer
and plenty of help here on exploroz.
