Can anyone help please - 6yo Landcruiser this morning started then stopped. Plenty of spark, but fuel not getting through. Has anyone else had efi problems and any tips for tracking this down. Checked all the usual - fuel filters, lines, fuses etc. Many thanks.

Champers, you say you checked the fuel filters. Did you replace them or just check them. Mostly it's pretty hard to see if any junk is in them.

Hi, maybe the fuel pump. Check at the pump to see if it has power. Pull it out and see if it has siezed up or somthing silly.
I've never looked for
mine so I don't know if they are in the
tank or outside the
tank.
Regards
Dave

You might check the pickup in the
tank...

Can you get it to pump fuel to the engine bay after and/or before the filter pack/s.
If not start working your way backwards, checking fuses first in case there is any fancy sort of electric lock off valves.
Check all wiring connections around same plus any solinoids for switching between tanks if it is a duel
tank vehicle.
Crack hose connections between tanks/s and engine bay and see if fuel is running.
Just a step by step process untill you find the mother causing the problem.

Thanks everyone - good sensible replies but have done all this. Have had to give up and have it towed to the nearest Toyota dealership, where it has been all day, and they can't figure it out. Helps to know we did all the right things. It is a worry as we have recently returned from a 5 week trip through central aust and the simpson. Thank goodness it didn't pack up there. Toyota's cost hopefully will seem less than any towing out there! First problem we have ever had with any Toyota and have had 4 Landcruisers in our time.

Hi,
I have just signed up and found your question about the fuel problem. I have a similar one with my Diesel Landcruiser 100 series. Did Toyota work out what was wrong with your vehicle as this may give me some idear as to waht might be causing my problem.
Hope to hear from you

Hi pjw71
The car was towed to our Toyota dealer and remained there for 6 days whilst they diagnosed the problem and fixed it. It turned out to be a faulty relay switch behind the dash. The dash and air conditioning etc all had to be removed to replace a $25 part. The worrying point of all this is that we encountered the beginning of the problem in the
Simpson Desert - hate to think what would have happened if it had stopped out there. $1,400 later, but the car is running like its old self now. Car has only done 65,000kms so gremlins can strike at any time. Good luck with yours, but you will probably need Toyota's diagnostic
tools to locate it. We spent 2 fruitless days searching for the problem.
