All of the 245/70R16's that I've bought over the last 8 years are stamped USA - some sizes are ex Japan - there may be other sites.

I had a set and they had MADE IN USA and they were great, I think when these bloody HanKook's wear out I might go for another set or Bridgestones, the 2 sets of Mickey Thompsons I went through were too soft and lumps of tread chipped out of them , I reackon Yokohama would be a good choice but they are getting up around the $280 each

Did a bit of research on this about 18 month ago when I was about to fit BFGs to the 80 . Made in both the US and Japan.
however the Japanese version as fitted to most new 4x4 as original equiptment are made with a softer sidewall to give more
car like ride. Still a good tyre but the US version is better in the bush in Oz.

big bo,
Could come from anywhere as B F Goodrich are owned by the Michelin tyre company & have been for a number of years.
Michelin are now manufacturing in most country's except Australia.

Cheers,
Fazz.

They use to be made in USA then as usual they decided to save on costs and were made in I think for memory China or Malaysia, that's about when everybody started complaining of the quality and them been crap tyres chopping out the side walls, chunks of tread tearing off so they then decided to start making in USA again. Not sure if this is correct for all of them but was for the 31x10x15's I had on the hilux. I was told this by the Manager of Bob Jane's who I have known for 15 years so I presume it true. I did have a look on the lux tyres and they were stamped made in USA. Regards Steve

It might not have been in one of the countrys I had mentioned but was over there some where and obviously it must have been Japan and at the end of the day they were sh@t quality compared to when they were made in USA. I am only saying what come from a manager from Bob Jane. Im not knocking the brand as I had them on my lux and had not one problem with them. But there was obviously quality issues when they were made in Japan. I was told that the tyre size mentioned in my previous comment did come from Japan previously and to watch out for older stock that may have still been sitting on the shelves as I was careful when purchasing them that they come from USA. There was a big problem with them as stated on here a few years ago when people were losing chunks off the treads and crappy side walls failing when off road and chewing out big time. Maybe a further investigation is required to stop the rumours. Regards Steve
