About 6 months ago I bought an Olympus E500 camera with a twin lens kit for $1050 – an excellent price and a terrific camera. Since them Olympus have released a new camera (the E510, I think?) which has meant people are off-loading the E500. I noticed the following sale on e-bay the other day which went for $685 – and the vendor has more for sale. If you’re in the market for a good SLR with lenses these will be hard to beat.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OLYMPUS-EVOLT-E-500-E500-DIGITAL-CAMERA-SLR-TWIN-LENS_W0QQitemZ250147436155QQihZ015QQcategoryZ30020QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

NB. I know nothing about this vendor – I just came across them by chance so if they eat your grandmother or burn your money don’t blame me :)

Mike,

Agreed, Olympus make great cameras, but you would need to be aware with these eBay sales, that they are (more than likely) grey market imports and this means that the warranty will not be honoured in Australia.

Should there be any warranty issues, normally, the camera will need to be reurned to the point of purchase, who in turn, will then send it to Japan to be repaired, then returned to Australia.

If you are happy with this arrangement, then I would recommend purchasing from these eBay sellers as you can get some amazing deals.

I purchased a flash unit for my Nikon for just under 2/3 the price that I could get it retail in Melbourne.

Best of luck,

Mark
