Hi, does anyone know where i can buy a small hand operated desalination unit. I saw a video with Malcolm Douglas using one in his canoe. Would like to keep one in the boat just in case.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers Lyndon

Hi Lyndon,
Try:
http://wildworks.co.nz/csr/equipment.php (little write up on a bloke who used one while riding a bike on the canning)
http://www.msrcorp.com/filters/

Hope this helps

You would be able to get one through almost any marine chandlery.

Hi Lyndon,

Another option over just the desalinator is to try the upmarket camping/hiking stores. I walked the inland lakes on Fraser with a couple of mates years ago and he had a hand pump filter that would "purify" even the filthiest water (not that there is any of that on Fraser) and I'm pretty sure you can get models that also desalinate. Atleast then you have a tool that you can take in your 4x4 too. Pretty handy bit of gear and only cost about $200 I think.
