I have searched through a few of the previious tent discussions. I am looking for a quick to put up tent like the OzTent or the
Southern Cross Centre Pole designs, BUT I don't want heavy canvas. I want to stick with lightweight synthetics or maybe a lightewight canvas. I hate lifting wet canvas awnings.
Has to be big enough for 2 adults and 3 kids, sleeping only. Stand up not required. I would prefer a synthetic that didn't need a fly, but this may not exist. Also prefer anything that doesn't need ropes except for extreme weather. Durability is not an issue, I've been using my $99 KMart dome for 10 years now.
This combination probably doesnt exist.
Has anyone seen anything like these.
Key Point 1 - Very quick assembly
Key Point 2 - Light weight
Thanx
Paul

Oztent is lightweight rip-stop canvas, 5 models to choose from, recommend them but as you have probably read, need a roof rack or trailer.

Blackwolf turbo lites are probably the way to go. BCF sell a special 270 size that might suit and is occasionally on special ... but still $600-700.

We bought a Microfast tent from ARB about 5 years ago. It has all the poles sewn into the synthetic material and folds up concertina style.
It litterally unfolds like a spring in seconds but takes a bit of practice to collapse it down to get it back into its travel bag which is about the size of a hoola hoop.
It comes with a fly that fits like a second skin and the one we bought was big enough for all four of us plus luggage, with room to get changed and was almost tall enough to stand up in. Bigger ones were available.
The ground sheet was sold separately but should have been included as the floor is really thin and it wouldnt take much to rip it.
Its a great tent and always draws attention with its
bright colours (yellow and black) when you fling it opent to erect it, but I'm not 100% sure they are still available. ARB certainly dont sell them anymore.

Hi Me2
As you say impossible , wanted the same thing here and couldn't get it.
Came close , got a fast erect centre pole tent from Aussie disposals around $179.
Being cheap, canvas is lighter and floor is not vinyl which is heavy.
Mine had doors front/back which gives 3 layers of material.
Took a bit of courage and cut one off.
Optimized a few other things and its ok now at 13kg.
Works pretty
well actually

Anaconda have a bunch of what looks like lightweight and relatively cheap tents in various sizes and configurations.
They are on the internet if interested.
I have no idea on quality, lastability (is that a word?) and have no bloody association with them except for buying some tent poles at unbeatable prices.
Cheers

Longevity is probably the word you were after....we just got an Anaconda in
Adelaide and it is fantastic. Haven't got around to climbing
the rock wall yet though....

We bought one from supercheap just b4 xmas when we did high country. $99.00 6 foot in the middle so wife had no problems standing up, queen size self inflating mattress one half, division in the middle (material curtain), chairs table crap the other or in your case would easily fit 3 kids at the other end (would have no room left) and rolls up narrower then a normal sleeping bag and about 1 1/2 times in length. 2 Big doors at the front. Was Fantastic for what we needed on the go each day. Quality wise,
well who knows but all the zippers worked fine, and has been used a few times since. Up in 5 minutes and the same to pull the pegs out roll back up and put into bag, and even the bag is big enough and I have no problems getting back in, unlike other things you buy and can never get it back in the bag the same way it come out the first time. Regards Steve

Forgot to mention it only has two poles (those light weight things that are all joined with like an elastic type string between each one and flick into place) that go diagonaly to each corner and I only used one peg in each corner althou there is provisions for alot more. Regards Steve

Try the Black Wolf Turbo 300. We have a 240 for two people and it is great. Dry, light, quick.
