We have had some coleman mats, the ones that roll up into a shoe box, for a number of years now and have been adequate. But, one of us is complaining that the ground is becoming harder.
I wondered if those blue
camping mats underneath might add some comfort, has anyone tried this set up.

G'day Dean. My girlfriend and I use coleman mats when
camping, with blue
camping mats underneath. They do provide a little more comfort, plus an extra layer of insulation from cold ground. Doesn't stop 'one of us complaining' though! They are pretty cheap, so just try them and see if they help.
Cheers, Cam.

We've used those cheap blue mats from BigW and i wouldn't recommend them except for insulation between ground purposes as they do not give you much support (if any). A thicker foam layer is needed for support and to stop those 'rocks' from finding there way through. We now use campbeds with 1" foam.

Put an airmatress on top of your coleman mat, softness and insulation. Life is hard.

We have used those 600x600 square 'clip together' pieces when
camping on stoney ground with self- inflating mattresses.
Works for us !!

We have two Themarest each .. works
well ..
b4 we had two we used a double air mattress with very little
air underneath and made a cover to go around the air matress and the thermarests to prevent it from slipping .. we now have covers/sacks for two thermarests and it forms a real nice mattress ..
I always wondered why they don't make them thicker ..
have fun
