Hi all

Apologies - my first OT post I think.

Came across a "push lawn mower" today. With water restrictions I may not have a lawn in the future so don't really want to buy a 'you-beaut' new motor one. So can anyone tell me, do "push lawn mowers"work, are they any good?

thanks in anticipation. JD

they are defiantly not for the couch potato-- postage sized lawn and don't let it get long

errrr..

yeah they're great if you keep the blades sharp and don't mow wet grass or (as said above) grass that is too long.

good excuse to crack an extra two tinnies after the job.

First thing is, don't loose the ignition key as it costs a fortune to get one cut.

Secondly, don't stick your finger in the blades when they are rotating as I did to see if you can get it in and out before it gets cut off.

Thirdly, make sure the country doc has local anesthetic if you do. cause it blo#dy well hurts when he sews it back on.

I guess I wasn't top of the class in smarts.

The finger survived, sort of and I blamed my brother for making me put it in there in the first place.

My ex. (and now, sadly, dead) father-in-law had a saying he liked:

"A true gentleman never borrows a lawnmower which is too heavy for his wife to push" :)

Rest well Bill.

I gave my son a mower when he turned 12 years old. He was wrapt and went out mowing around the place for a couple of years before he went "What tha.?!!".... Sadly, as smart as his old man.

We have around two acres of "lawn" [level weeds when wet]. Hmmmm he gave back the mower when he left home.

your making me feel bad, I have a small block and just got a ride on mower, loads of fun, like go cart racing, only slower - and more practical. I am planning on making it a full EV tho so then it will be good for the environment.

They work best when one of the kids are "getting fit" and mowing while you supervise with a cold one in hand...

Thanks all.

Responses have been both informative and very humourous. Just proves again that the EO mob must be one of most practical, resourceful and ready-to-help groups of people in OZ.
