Diesel-gas , in all its myriad forms, appears to be
well accepted.
If that is acceptable, may I ask for opinions on "Fuel"/Hydrogen technology?
Not cheap, but sounds deadly good.
ALERT.
STOP: Nothing of interest beyond this alert.
(Regards to the 'usuals': have had a splinter beneath the nail: distracting for us City types, eh.Couldn't talk for a week!.....)
hahaha(Royalties to Gramps), hahaha
Doug'n Dusty, good trip and stay safe: tell Willem to get knotted from me when you pass through.I'll get to Peter Rabbit's Burrough next year [Allah willing], and deny the whole yarn.
Jeff.
ps.
thanks Dusty: you watchim, L'il F'man.Grouffrl.
(Dusty, Dad's gonna buy me a drag net, eh. So we can just sit on our little botties, an snap up the live-fresh sardines' over'n over'n over.......................
Ooh, be so good to take you fishing!! I tingle all over...Jess.

Hydrogen is not the fuel of the future it has to many problems, the two largest are a) you cant make it and b) you cant store it. Hydrogen is not a fuel source, its an inefficient energy carrier.

G'day F4,
I don't mind standing correction, but what has surfaced (for me) in the last few days are on-board hydrogen generators. By using approx 13amps, electrolysis of
water will provide sufficient hydrogen from 4L of
water to supplement either petrol or diesel over 10,000km.
Fuel savings and power increase appear comparable to diesel/gas systems.
This, (like diesel/gas), strikes me as highly improbable. But diesel/gas obviously works, so why not diesel/hydrogen?
The two problems you cite are non-starters: the gas is used as it is made, no storage problems.
As for hydrogen being an inefficient energy carrier - you've got me there.
(BTW, companies manufacturing these units claim they are only a stop-gap measure until hydrogen fuel cells become viable, maybe 20 years distant)
Jeff.

Welcome to the 'not mind standing corrected club' I don't mind either . While I am by no means an expert, I have a keen interest in alternative technology and my first bug thing was hydrogen in about 1995/96. Since then I have been in every
camp but have decided on pure electric cars as the answer which cant be beaten. Hydrogen fuel cells have platinum in them, they are currently worth over a million a piece and people in the hydrogen
camp are relying on mass production to reduce costs. I know mass production helps a lot but when you use rare metals (rather than common pig iron) its not just R&D you are trying to get back but materials costs. An normal petrol engine weighing 300kg in materials costs is nearly worthless. As for your discovery with the hydrogen generator I wish it were true, because I would be doing it tomorrow. While I would be very interested in reading more about it, I have to say I would approach with a fair amount of skepticism. There was a guy in QLD running a chevy V8 on
water. he charged his batts overnight, made H from
water in the boot, then feed it into the engine. The thing is, once you calculate the energy wastage a simple electric car is faster, more efficient, longer range and cheaper. I dont know how much of a discussion this thread could generate as its slightly OT but I would like anyone to submit a better idea than EV's.
BTW if hydrogen was ever to take off (we suddenly got an unlimited energy supply of the stuff) I would be on board with BMW using it through regular ICE's rather than use the electricity to run an electric motor.

F4,
Know what you mean about eating mail: sin loi, eh.
Sorry, a bit busy just now, but run a google on
Hydrogen Fuel Injection : will get back to you.

Jeff

F4,
Sorry to not reply directly.
Will re-post on the topic, and hope you'll contribute.

Re suppliemental gases - Ive been keeping an eye on the development of the device in the following website. All information has been retained in the public domain, is Australian and makes quite interesting reading. Read into it what you like.

Thanks Neil.
Unfortunately that site refused to play, but will try again later.
I assume that they discuss the Canadian Hydrogen Energy Company's claims, as
well as the (apparently) valid scepticism offered by others.
I've been hoping that some of you more aware folk would offer your thoughts. Interesting.
Regards,
Jeff.

Neil,
No mate, that site seemed to link with the so-called Brown's Gas only.
An infinitely long pole would be too short to reach that one.
I'll try a new post, and hope you will contribute.
Thanks,
Jeff.
