I have a 2001 GU Nissan Patrol and wondering if the rims would also fit a 2007 Jayco Eagle Outback so that I don't have to carry additional spares. I am not 100% sure whether the Patrol rims are 16" or 17" (don't have access to vehicle) but does anyone know whether I would need to upgrade the Outback's standard rim size from 15" to 16" and would the wheels be interchangebale between the two vehicles?

Without seeming to state the obvious, you would need to upgrade the Jayco rims to the same size & offset as the Patrols.
If you are buying a new Jayco they will do this for you at additonal cost.

My outback expanda came with the 15" rims and I changed them over to the 16" myself. Stud pattens are the same and there is enough clearance with the arches and off sets. The only drama was the spare location on the expanda, on the draw bar, does not have enough room for the spare 16 without being too low. I carry that on top of the Nissan on long trips, then I have 2 spares on the Nissan. On short trips I carry the one on the back of the Nissan.

From memory, the max size tyre and wheel jayco recommend on the outback campers is 780mm dia by 275 wide. I havn’t measured the offset on the standard 15inch rims.

In a couple of weeks will try fitting 17 by 8 inch rims (with a 30mm positive offset to suit an 2003 Prado) with 245/70-17 tyres. The tyre shop is waiting on a shipment of rims. I've order 6 rims and tyres for the 4wd and will test fit on the camper before I order another two.

We have a 2001 Jayco Dove Offroad. Currently towed by a 2006 Patrol wagon. The Patrol rims fit the Jayco. however, modifications to the mud flap/jacking point on the Jayco need to be made, as well as having the springs looked at (at least on ours anyway ).
None of this is a big job or hard to do. Have a look here for how the mudflap and jacking point is changed.......

Meercat,

We have an 04 Patrol and a Jayco Outback Eagle. I changed the 15" rims on the Eagle for 16" Patrol rims but had problems with clearance on the inner walls. A quick chat with my tyre bloke and I put 16" Cruiser rims on which have a offset out to give the clearance. The spare in turn will fit the Patrol if needed and the Patrol spare will fit the Eagle, but i would not want to travel great distances in that orientation.

Happy Camping

Chris
