Hi everyone.

Have a question that some one maybe be able to answer or explain why.
Have a Waeco 50 fridge and while camping last week decided to use the Waeco temperature digital device, mainly to check outside temperature.
I notice that my fridge read out was constantly below the set
temperature ( Set at Zero but reading -4) and the digital device was reading +1.2.
The ambient termperature variation was fairly wide (from 2 deg to 28 during the day)
Has anyone else had this problem. I could use another thermometer to check but how long is a piece of string?
Just a quick thank you to Derek also. The Solar Panels worked perfectly.

Cheers

Howard.

The outside temp can effect the inside temp of a fridge, if you have your fridge set at 0 and it is actually -4 inside the fridge, it's probably because of the outside temp being cool.

I would suggest testing it when it's a very warm day to get a more acurate result.

Could be worse, could be warmer inside the fridge, that's when i'd be more concerned, especially if you have beer in the fridge!!!!

the inside of the fridge has to be at a lower temp so the product can lose its heat......

the product temp will always be warmer than the cabinet surface temp...this goes for the air space in the fridge...it will also be warmer than cabinet surface

At best i would only expect any temp gauge or controller supplied with fridge to be a guide as to actual temps

There will be a variations inside the fridge cabinet.
The top area initially will always be warmer than the base because hot air rises and cold air falls.

In some fridges with the cooling element only at one end I would suggest the temperature would be different at each end shortly after the fridge turns on, evening out to be the same with more run time.

You would have to put the Waeco temperature digital device in exactly the same place as the original fridge temperature sender/pick-up to get the same temperature, assuming the two gauges were calibrated exactly the same.

Try laying the temperature gauge in open air at the base of the fridge adjacent to the cooling coils for a few hours, then change it's position to up at the top away from the cooling coils, the variation will be clearly evident.

I have the 50L and when set at -3 on the touchpad its actually +1 inside the actual fridge some times just flicking between +1 and 0 just on the verge of freezing the drinks. I took the temp with probe closer to the bottmom but not actually touching it. The little compartment where the light is, is pretty well useless for cooling things. I normally throw the butter, dips etc in that part of it which is about 3/4 degrees difference. I have taken the temps at different outside ambient temps and have found it to holds temp really well. Used it as a freezer -14 when we did the high country prior to last xmas held the temp no problems with it living at that time in the back of the old hilux. I find it will get down to +1/0 and will climb back up to +3 before the compressor cuts back in. Regards Steve

I checked with Waeco some time ago and they advised that the figure shown is the average.
