G'day Everyone,
Current researching into puchasing a durable hard floor camper trailer. Any imput/comments would be appreciated. Keen to hear from anyone who also has experience or owns a Pioneer camper trailer, Odessy ZR or Tvan.
regards

Hi Beemer,
We bought a Pioneer "onyx" last year and are really pleased with it. They modified the tracking and
wheels so it was the same as our 100 series, it is functional, rides
well, holds a swag of gear,
well balanced, no problem with dust and easy to setup. We did the
gibb river road, the track from Balladonia to
Israelite bay (a shocker in
places) and most of the
holland track.
There was a challenge with one of the hubs but this was traced to the improper fitting of the bearings and is no longer a problem.
We found their after sales service excellent and will recommend them, and no, we are not associated with them.
Regards, Jeff

Hi Beemer, we have an Odyssey ZR from AORC. We find it really good. We had some minor issues at first due to them making some changes just for us. The after sales service of Steve and Rhonda is great. They now have a good service agent here in
Melbourne.
I would recommend one!
.

Viv

Have a look at Aussie Swag as
well. Made in
Brisbane. Rugged construction, and a great kitchen arrangement.

Beemer,
We have owned an Onyx for 2 years now. A few teething problems but
well supported by the Pioneer people. Certainly no dust problems and I can operate the opening/closing by myself. It has travelled about 15000k's, mostly roads and fencelines or bushtracks.
It's capable of going anywhere a standard Patrol will go.
We've found it good to be able to deal directly with the manufacturers also.
Take a good look around though,

For chassis &
suspension design you won't beat a Tvan, the rest is just personal choice.

Couldn't agree more ....BUT.... when you get to the most important part....
camping.........( and I'm only comparing it with my own KK )
Getting in & out of bed ??
The size of the kitchen area ( with the KK you can also sit at the kitchen bench to eat your meals )
Storage capacity ??
But I still have a soft spot for them...

Too many people are overawed by all the bells & whistles, but ignore the bit between them & the road.
I originally made the same mistake with a
well known brand new camper trailer, but we now have a Track Desert Eagle & we quite happily forego the slide out shiny kitchen with the knowledge that the trailer will get anywhere that we want to go, & more importantly ..... get us back!
I also think that a lot of us have totally lost the plot & forget that we are
camping & not trying to tow a luxury apartment behind us.

Hi Beemer
We have just returned from our first trip away in our new Pioneer Argyle SE, heaps of storage on board, now dust or
water ingress and very easy on the road. Very easy to setup and we got better as we went along. We have had very few problems since we purchased in June.
Regards

G'day everyone,
Thankyou for your imput, We have been so use to
camping with tents that the descison to look at camper trailers has become quite interesting. Thoughts go through my mind of being stuck in the Alpine somewhere due to poor judgment with a trailer on the back. For us it is a new education, It will be a hard choice of what type to purchase. My wife certainly loves the idea of an easy set up kitchen and I like the idea of just pulling up somewhere and having a simple set up. Although we work very
well together as a team on each trip and we have managed to usually set up quickly it would be nice to have a few of the creature comforts. Price versus fitout and durability will be the next factor to look at.
Thanks
Beeme,
