Hi all,

I'm interested in hiring a 4wd in Tasmania. Can anyone recommend anywhere that does this as well as other gear like camping gear, fridges etc? I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks,

Steve

You've probably looked into this but why wouldn't you take your own 4WD over (assuming you have one) on the ferry. I'm planning on doing this later in the year. If there is an obvious reason why you wouldn't could you please tell me before I turn up at the docks :)
Thanks,
Alex

G'day Alex,

Thanks for your response. Yes I do have a 4wd and I would go over on the ferry. My enquiry is for my father in law who is from overseas who would like to do a 4wd trip in Tassie.
Hope you have a great trip.

I was palnning to enclude Tassie in my eastern states trip this December, with Cruiser and camper , wife and 3 teenage kids 15 to 19, it was gonna cost me a bank loan to go on the ferry and return, worked out a lot cheaper to fly over and hire a 4by as our stay there wont cost us anything.

Hi Steven,
Here in Tassie, there are just the regular hire companies that have limited 4WDs, such as Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and so on. I do not know of any that specialise in 4WDs.
Sorry I couldn't be more help
