Has anyone bought any Speed Camera plug-in for a navman F40 - and are they effective?
I am not a driver who speeds but I object to revenue raising techniques.

If you are not a driver who speeds (!!!!!!) then why on earth would you want to spend money on something that has obviously been configured to enable drivers to escape detection - IF they are exceeding the prescribed speed limit. The fact that you object to the 'revenue raising techniques' matters not as you along with every other citizen enjoy the level of access to public hospitals, transport systems, schools, roads (infrastructure etc) which result from 'revenue raising' in one form or another that are provided. Like the bloke who wanted to install a radar detector in his vehicle - NOT because he speeds - but because his idiot mate had one and he thought it looked cool and he 'wanted to be one of the boys' !!!

For god's sake - the nazis are out in strength today - why cannot people just ask the question as asked?

I've not heard of these, they sure sound like a great idea! I know my commodore has a speed alert but the Nissan doesn't so I would find it extremely useful in the Nissan to be warned that a radar is operating in an obvious black spot and it would cause me to look at my speedo to make sure that I wasn't speeding AND potentially adding to the road toll.

What a commendable add on!

Kind regards

Overseas GPS software have the ability to detect and warn drivers of speed camera's, please note i only know this from researching the models we have in australia and Googleing it. also please note to have a radar detector in your car in MOST STATES of Australia is a criminal offense and is punishable by the full capacity of the LAW!!! The exception is WA, and i think they have restrictions.

In NSW if they detect you using a detector they will strip out your car with bare hands to find it and confiscate it and my throw the book at you????

I also think, not too sure but the software for some GPS units is region locked to the area, i haven't gone to in depth yet.

Also you can add the fixed camera's as POI's do a google search for it!
