I have been witness on this forum to way too many Nissan patrol 3l engine disasters.
I would not buy another Nissan product based purely on reports re this engine and Nissan's responses.

I own a '92 Mav/Patrol TD42 diesel from new and have had a great run from mine.

I am not a Nissan basher but surely the time has come for Nissan to be made publicly accountable for a product which continues to create hardship and stress for their loyal customers.

This should surely rate as a story for our tacky current affairs TV shows. That's what I would do BITTENBYZD30.

I feel for you, go to it.

Thanks for your reply. I too owned a 1989 patrol ute and it had 350000 when sold and only the usual wear and tear on that one.

The tacky current affair programs haven't got the balls to take on a "big gun" but they'll crucify a service station owner, small builder, milk bar owner etc.

wont be put out early enough, the next model is sticking with the grenade!!!!

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Check out other forums online that are for patrols. If you google a .com site for patrol 4x4 you will find several threads with exactly the same story.
Good Luck

Google for Whirlpool and NGE (Not Good Enough), but then you may already have. My sister had a nissan pathfinder, loved the car then took it to the sunco motors at maroochydore, and there mechanic for a service and F$#%ked it BIG time and did it twice, both times didnt service it properly, cooked the motor and box twice, sunco motors denied stuffing it up and refused to replace motor and box, nissan company management said it was a dealer problem. The mechanic in question got the arse. small repentence for stuffing up a good vehicle and NOT supplying a LOAN car either...

For what it is woth i wouldn't buy a nissan if they where the last car maker on earth. they forget this golden rule, one person has bad product they willl tell three of there friends and then the 3 will tell 3 of their friends and it will grow till they either do something about it or go bankrupt.

I told my sister to fight and she said not good against a big corporation like that.

Nissan's = less then garbage if there service doesn't back up the iimage!!!

Shade,

I agree with your sister, it is not worth fighting them. I spent two and a bit grand over a number of months with nothing but heartache to show for it and I have the TD42 so I can only empathise with those owning the ZD30. I still have mine after 325000km but all my work methods have changed to revolve around the truck, it used to tow massive loads but now due to the vehicle not coping with those loads, I freight bits and pieces to certain towns and pick them up when I arrive with the lighter vehicle and lighter trailer. Bloody thing when fully loaded with 3500kg trailer would only sit on 75-80kph or it would overheat at any greater speeds. PITA when driving long haul in western QLD or NSW. Least mine still went though, not like the ZD30's.

Regards, Trevor.
