Hi all
Had a bit of a problem a few days ago where my 15 year old son and his mates decided to take my GQ for a bit of a joy ride while my wife and myself were at work. Anyhow I think that driving with no experience can be a bit of a handful let alone it be in a patrol. The end result is they came around a corner too fast and collected one of those fancy green lamp posts. As there were witnesses to this accident it has made my insurance void. What l am mainly asking is does anyone in the
Gold Coast area know of a good place to acquire the parts needed for repair which is bullbar front drivers guard, bonnet and grille. I have checked allover and I think these are the only parts l need.
Thanks
Steve

Bugger, for you and your son, I guess he won’t be getting any Christmas presents this yeah eh….
Don't know where you could get the parts, thou When my mate collected a cow one night in his GQ, it did the same sort of damage and that was around 5 Grand to repairer from memory.
That was NEW Bar
Second hand Bonnet, striped back and re painted
New Grill
New spotlights
and a dent knocked out of the Drivers door

I'd be sending the bugger out to work part time and take all of his money for 2 years.

Agree with ebay, but if you can still drive the trol around I wouldn't buy the first part that comes up, unless you get it for a bargain.
GQ parts seem to be on ebay alot these days so you could probally get them at a decent and cheap price.
Just my 2 cents
Cheers Luke

Dead right luke. Fix only what you need to get it back on the road. You'll find all the other parts in time on ebay. That way you don't have huge bill right now and get a good deal when you keep an eye out.

MY brother in law's boys took his XR6 for a hack a few years ago with a similar result.
He stood up to his insurance company and won.
Because he didnt give permission for it to be used it was repaired.
Just forget the detail now, but i guess it comes under similar to being stolen, so this maybe a way out.
Dont give up on them as they will screw you if they can.
Cheers Pesty

youd be asking for more trouble they usually would pursue the guilty party for damages including court etc etc. And if stolen they would be needing a copy of the police report etc etc

Hi Steve
Sorry to hear about this mate .....anyway a mate of
mine in Pt Lincoln had the same thing happen to him a few years ago when his daughter decided to take his ford for a spin and rolled it , he was able to claim from his insurance because he hadn't given permission for her to take it, in effect it was stolen , as is the case with your Patrol, dont let them put it over you mate , seek advice if you have to .......

If the vehicle was classified as stolen then wouldn't the offenders then be subject to prosecution?

not if you don't purse the matter, and being juvenilee they would get a slap on the wrist, whilst you kick him up the bum.

A gentle encounter with the Police might serve to wake the
young fella up a bit.
I know it did for me and I was a lot younger than 15.
I am not suggesting you prosecute but I am pretty sure you could find a gruff old sergeant who would gladly explain the seriousness of his actions and the possible consequences.

Oh sorry also forgot, if you jump on ebay do a search for Roodogs 4wd, Or email roodogs4wd@bigpond.com, or is it net, i havent spoken to Neil for ages as my 4by hasn't being recovered and it was stolen and uninsured. The other thuing is go to telstra website and ask for all of the 4wd wreckers in australia, if you havent already done that, maybe try central coast 4x4 wreckers at wyong??? Chris might know where to get them

i went to Neil, until my 4by got stolen. I had bought a gearbox kit from him, and it was sitting in the back of the 4runner awaiting insatllation, and i was waiting for my press to turn up. So if anyione hears of someone trying to sell a 87 4runner gearbox kit cheap please let me know. still awaitinh for my beloved runner to come back after it's done a runner!!!!!

Steve
I believe that you can get good money for body parts. If you sold your 15 year old you could make enough money to purchase a new Patrol and all the goodies.
Tell him if he ever does anything so stupid again that's what you'll do.
