Being new to the world of GPS's i'm seeking some advice.
My Nuvi 300 has City Navigator V7 installed (Update to V8 will be sent out to me some time in September), this all works
well in the city but i'm looking for extra to cover country and 4x4 tracks.
I wan't to be able to create
routes and upload to my GPS, plus anything else of bemefit as my experiance grows.
Firstly from what i can tell from my investigations Garmin Trip and Waypoint Manager will be adequate.
But then it down to Mapping Software and where i start to have trouble deciding what to purchase.
1) GPS Topo Plus Aust 10 - is recommended on a lot of websites.
2) Oztopo - is also recommended on a lot of sites.
Could anyone please give me there thoughts or am i on the wrong track and there is something else.

GPS Topo Plus Aust 10 is only Contour lines, Oztopo is the one you need , and as for mapping Software, when you get the CD for C/N v8 you will then have the rquired software to make your waypoints, and work out
Routes, but remember the Nuvi range of GPS does not support the uploading of Tracks and
Routes but will of course do it's own Routing within,
For more Info about what can be done with the software and OzTopo check my
webpage for GPS

I might add that I have not as yet heard about any map updates for City Navigator, not even mentioned on the Garmin or GME Websites , but of course it will happen sometime in the future, C/N 7 was only released last September,

Doug, have a look in the "My Garmin" section in the Garmin website and the CN8 is offered as a map update from 1 Sept. I have used this to update my nuvi 660.

John
This is only an Update to City Navigator v7, it is NOT a full new City Navigator v8 although if like the v5 update was called v6,
I got an update like this for City Navigator v5 which made it into v6 and to obtain v7 I had to pay full price .
Hope that lot didn't get you too confused,

Doug I posted a couple of days ago about CN8 coming out soon and that with it the ability of downloading to 2 gps'es will be lost.

Yes I read your Post
What I am seeing is that this is an Update to v7 , in other words you will have to have v7 first then add this over the top , it won't be like a full new version , now this is just my belief at this time but I have been in touch with JA GPS in Annerly and was told just an update,

Could
well be Doug , but seems strange that it won't allow two Gps'es

Are you another Garmin Lunatic like me and have 2 units , I find though that v7 will not do a go-to or make a waypoint from the cursor position on the Quest 1, ie move the cursor from present position and try to make a waypoint or goto and it refuses, just gives 2 beeps in rejection , it works for a couple of weeks then a conflict arises , everything else works ok , it don't really matter because the Nuvi does that part anyhow.
