A relative of mine, who absolutley hates my defender and has constantley informed me what a waste of space it is since purchasing his 100 series toyo!! ( last of the solid beam axle model), rang me today in a mad flap, evidentley he took it in for rego inspection, & got knocked back on a loose front wheel bearing. After taking it home and further inspecting, shock horror!!, the wheel bearing nuts had both unwound the outer coming right off and getting jammed up that outer tube, the inner adjusting nut well on its way to following its mate. Evidentley the locking tab can shear off the stub, rendering it useless., Have not seen anything yet will go over tomorrow, but does sound like it might be a vunerable area. Hope so will give him hell.;))))))).

Cheers Axle.

All cars have their little problems but i would be telling your mate to pull his head in !

He sounds like he's 16 years old.

I had that happen on my 60 series years ago. The only thing holding the wheel on was the brake disc.
