As I have been out of online circulation since the beginning of July I would just like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who made the ExplorOz National Gathering 2007, the success that it was.

THANK YOU

To all of you who made the effort to drive the distance to attend the gathering and to make it a joyful and fun event

To Stony and Gina Steiner who hosted the event at Warraweena

To Judith for organising the Camp Site

To the intrepid Trip Leaders: Roachie, PhilG and Des Lexic... you have become folklore

To ExplorOz Member Michael J (SA) and his son Marc for donating all of the food for the sausage sizzle

To the two bands, Roys Boys and The Presidents Men, from the Eyre Peninsula, who donated their time and talent to entertain us

To Roachie and Annette for initiating the Muck Up Awards and for writing the Trip Report

To Noel Fullerton for just being there and entertaining us with his yarns and knowledge

To Uncle Milton for his Skits around the Campfire

To David and Michelle for donating ExplorOz Merchandise

To Ross H for donating BP Merchandise

53 vehicles arrived. 52 left of their own accord
138 people attended including about 40 young ones of all ages
3 dogs were also part of the group

The event raised $1260 for Outback Education Projects of which $800 went to School of the Air and $460 to Leigh Creek School

The weather wasn't all that kind to us and maybe the next National Gathering should be held later in the year when the warmer weather comes along. Still, it was a good Get-Together of like minded people and a chance to put faces to internet names and to bond new friendships.

Cheers

G'day you old codger,
I know it has been said many times before in your absence, but a gigantic thankyou to your goodself, Judith, Gina and Stoney for a truely memorial weekend. Saturday night was a real hoot apart from the cold.
It took everyone who attended to make the weekend as good as it was but your hard work and organisation was the key to real success.
In spite of yourself ,you did a great job. LOL
Thanks again
Des.

Yep........... what Des said!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha

(not very often I agree with the old {VERY OLD} bloke from the Riverbed 4 Wheel Drive Club (formerly "Riverland"; when it actually had some water in it before the Queerlanders stole it all!!!!!), but this is one occasion when Des has spoken with his dislexic disability in check.......

Welcome back Willie........we've missed you around here. There have been lots of shinanigans going on and I'm hoping that now that you've returned, the likes of Lucky and Trevor R will start to remember their position and stop being trouble-makers!!!!! ;-)

Cheers

Roachie

Roachie, geez your so dumb. It's taken you this long to work out how clever I am. Save yourself a lot of grief and just follow my advice whenever I proffer it to you.
Now tomorrow morning, push the missan down the road to the toyota dealer and hand over your credit card and tell them that you are now really desperate to by a Toyota and you will do whatever it takes to become the proud owner of one of those superbly made 100 series. That will at least spring you into the 21st century.
Your best mate

OR

have it in QLD were it's always good camping weather all year round. Also would get more $h!t stirrers along as well to add a bit of mischief to the weekend hehehehehe.

I loved being part of the get together and think it was worth the effort to drive there. Had a ball on the way down as well!!

Cheers, Trevor.

Well..... Trevor, why don't you organise it!!! Pick a spot somewhere where there arn't any sandflies(QLD is famous for them) and go for it.

Gee Trev,

Too bad we aren't up there right now enjoying your idea of "beautiful one day, perfect the next".................. we could get blown from here to kingdom come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha

Memo to the advertising gurus who look after Queerland promotion:

Change the slogan to "Queerland!! Craappy cane-toad weather one day; craapppier cane-toad weather the next"

Agree with the above posts. I also had a fantastic time travelling down, during the gathering, and my roaming after.

As I said Willem the Rodeo was more capable than the driver :) but I sure learnt alot down there.

We clocked up a lot of km to get there and back, but it was worth every one of them. Those Warraweena tracks were great! Can't wait till next year - in which State will the National Gathering be in 2008?

Cheers

Welcome back Willem, the gathering was a hoot, the kids are still talking about it now and then, Interestingly their diary entries were full for the days there but less so once we went on to QLD...
Hope all goes well for you both in the near future, we should see you in oct don't we?
Cheers,
