I changed the oil in the old troopie yesterday and used "apparently" the best oil you can buy. Got the oil for free, point being it seemed to stop that piston slap that it had before. Has anyone else had the same experience? Also motor seemed to be alot quiter under high revs. That piston slap frightend the hell out of me when i first bought this vehicle as i thought one of the pistons were going to come out the side of the motor. The old BJ 42 4 cylinder diesel (Never heard that noise)

Mate - let's in on the secret - what's this magic oil and how do you get it for free?
Me, I pay $60 for 10 litres of Valvoline Super Diesel and have never had any piston slap - wish I could say that about odd vibrations in and around the dash.

Max, The next door neighbour owns a excavator and he uses the same oil in the machine.

That's interesting - I wondered whether it was a worn engine oil of some sort. I went away from RX Super early in the life of my 1HZ - first Penrite then more recently Valvoline seemed to give better pressure after 5000 km than the RX Super. Does the "Plus" indicate something better do you know?
