Yes unfortunately I'm back at work this week after our 5 week CSR trip. Had a geat time on the Gunbarrel and CSR then home via the Tanami and Flinders for a couple of days.
The Patrol peformed faultlessly.
HF radio was unvaluable especially when one of our party in a Disco 2 broke down. The guys on VKS737 were geat with relaying messages and support.
The best trip we have done so far. Can't wait to go again.
Peter

Hi Peter sound like it was a great trip, it is something that my family and I haven't tackled yet but we are considering it. Visiting
the desert areas of Oz is a unique experience we crossed the Simpson years ago and thoroughly enjoyed
the desert. Given that I have just brought a 4.2 TDi with a view of doing some more of the more remote bush trips in the future I wondered if you have experienced any over heating issues with the Patrol which a number of people have talked about.
Regards Roger

Roger,
The 4.2 had no overheating problems at all. I have an EGT gauge fitted and kept an eye on it but it stayed fairly low. Also had no problems on the long run home.
I hope we can get back over your way again next year. The flowers were amazing.

The roof rack was terrific. Very easy to load - we used a Michelle's Sack and an Oztent. I think I'll be leaving it on now home as it's not too high.

Hello, good to hear you had a great time - bet the time went very quickly tho. 5 weeks isn't really that long is it? Shame you had to go to work.
You should be here getting ready to party with us.

Correct Ruth, too short. We said often - we could keep going. And a sad day when you realise that you're on the way home.
Thought of coming back across the Simpson and dropping in but we'll be there wiith the family next year.

OK Ruth. We're planning on the July school holidays to come across from Dalhousie to
Birdsville and then up the
Hay River and then onto somewhere north so we should be able to catch up. I think Jan will have a pearl show this time.

places at that time.

Willie,
We stuck to the restrictions on the permit so didn't go into the Calvert Ranges etc. We came across lots of folk without permits, not aware one was required and it seemed from info at
Kunawarritji that they were not supportive of the whole idea. In all a rather confused situation I think.

No Dick - we set the car up and used an Oztent. I'd take the Ultimate to do some parts of the CSR but not the full track. having said that we came across two groups towing campers as we were heading towards the top end - KKs and Ultimates.

They have been towed out by using two vehicles in a tandem tow. I hope to hear more today but it has been a massive effort. They should get to Halls Ck today - hopefully.
The disco was
well prepared and checked over bfore the trip. I think it was the computer which failed but I'll kn0ow more when the car gets to a Landrover dealer.

Hi Peter and Jan We spotted your sticker at
Well 43 and were wondering how the Disco recovery went. We passed the Truck a week later at
well 50 with a puncture. He had a standard tilt tray RAC recovery truck with an 80 series on board and did not seem to have any knowledge of the area at all so we thought they might all be stranded. We had a great trip and glad to hear you did too. It's back to the grind for us tomorrow. Would love to hear how Jen and Rob ended up though!! All the best

Hi there
Rob and Jen made it to Halls Ck last Wednesday (with the car in tow) It was a massive effort by the group from
Esperance to have towed them out.
Agree that the RAC guy turned out to be out of his depth. The car is now in
Karratha and should eb repaired next week I expect.
Cheers
Peter

Thanks for the info Peter, It sounds like a good story for one of the 4wd mags, maybe we'll be reading all about it soon.
All the best for the next trip - see you out there somewhere!
