Evening all,

Just going over a few places i am intending to travel in March-April 08.
A few pubs that i would like to see on the way are Mt Dare, Birdsville,
Oodnadatta, William Creek, Maree, Mungerannie, Blinman, Innamincka and Cameron's corner.

Are there any other iconic outback pubs that you can think of in this area.

Cheers

Stephen

Oops - Schnitzel is a reference to a poor meal in the Birdsville pub. The Schnitzel was the packaged deep fried woolies stuff that "may contain some chicken"

The Milparinka pub is one of my favourites. There are a few rooms you can hire for the night.

Most of the other pubs you mentioned are pretty much overrun by the tourist crowd now. But if that's your thing, go for it.

Whilst this is not within your current route, if you get a chance spend a night at the Daly Waters pub North of Tennant Creek.

Can't remember a pub where I've had more laughs. Again, overrun by tourists.

Regards

Kim

Hi Stephen.
If you are going into outback qld thencontact Outback Queensland Tourism for a copy of their booklet "Great Outback Queensland Pubs".Email address:info@outback.qld.com.au.
It has29 great pubs listed. Also try Hungerford hotel on Qld/NSW border. They make great steak sandwiches!!.

Jen here,
We had a great stay at the Nindigully Pub in the south west of Queensland out near St George. It was great in November to watch their annual pig races but bloody hot. rather lovely pub and great hospitality.

Stephen

Been to most of the above pubs, all are worthy of a visit, but for my money the best pub around is the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna.

Not only is it a 'character' pub, but the food and accommodation is sensational for a bush pub. Try the feral food menu.

No connection etc etc.

cheers, Dalb
