Gidday all

I have a Magellan Meredian Gold with Discover Aus Streets and tracks and have found it to be suprisingly well detailed off road away from towns etc....I now wish to purchase a GPS for the boat...have been looking at the Garmin preloaded with marine and land maps and comparing to the Magellan crossover for which you purchase land or marine maps extra on SD cards

I have heard (may be unfair critisicm) that Garmin land maps arent that flash out of the built up area )....???..if this is so maybe their marine maps are the same standard / detail?

If Magellan mapsend bluenav are as good as I have experienced as their land maps then maybe that is the way to go using the crossover which can serve as dual purpose...bush and beach !

Comments from other users would be greatly appreciated

thanks

I noticed on my Garmin when heading across the Hay Plains that the man made canals on each side of the road are on the screen ,when travelling between Ingham & Trebonne i noticed the Cane train lines on the screen, how much better do you want.
But it seems your mind is made up to go Magellan and that's fine, they are a good GPS , There is only two brands to consider, anything else is a waste of money, but just in case you might like to have a geek i added this link.

I would suggest you also have a look at these Marine Chart units ,

Marine Chart GPS

Also if you only use a small section of Australia to fish as in a section of WA then you won't need a part of NSW or Qld so in this link you will see what sections are available for a Garmin,
