My employer is taking delivery of a new bus soon and we are going to fit a rearview camera.
Are the wireless ones any good? if so has anyone any particular ones that are ok as
well as the duds and the best place to purchase.
Thought that wireless may make for an easier installation or should we fit a hardwired one. I do realise that power will have to be run to the actual camera.
Thanks
Peter

Wireless is good, but signal strength with the currently available units is generally pretty low. As such, it is crucial that the two antennas are in direct line of sight. This may be difficult if the receiver and screen are on your dash and the back is stacked high with
camping gear. If this is a problem, you can usually fit a remote roof antenna. If line of sight between the two antennas is poor, this can also cause reflected signals off buildings or passing traffic and result in ghosting. In summary, for a perfect installation, they are quite good, otherwise, hard wire for sure.
The other thing you might consider is the type of camera, CCD or CMOS. CCD is more expensive but gives much better picture.
Cheers
Gerry

Go hard wired, yes it will be a pain it the ass for install but remeber this, "line of sitght" , as the install is in a buse how many walls/ partitons/ dividers, with hard wired less hassle in long run, also to if some one is usin 2.4 gz electronic equipment around and your trying to reverse with wireless then you may as
well get out and look, most of the wireless stuff today os 2.4 ghz, hence thats why if you have a wireless router and a cordless phone you are going to have troublesalso to add a wireless security system into the mix and that's called chaos???

Go for a hard wired system.
I tried many wireless systems before importing our own system and wireless is a problem.

Derek.
