Hi all,

Some of you Patrol owners must have done this. I know I am getting a new Stereo, speakers and amp ect for Fathers day.

The new head deck has its own chassis that comes with it so thats not the drama

Its the new hole in the dash which will be the issue. As my UHF is not a din size, mounting that to fill the gap won't work, so what to fill the gap with? Is the tray from a DX Patrol the only option? Or has anybody done other stuff? I want it to look as 'factory' as possible, so I guess some ply wood is out of the question!!

Cheers Stefan

Stefan,

Forget the ply wood, go to Auto Barn or Stratfield's and buy a one din filler, they come plan or you can get a coin drawer, drink holder or ask Father Christmas for a in dash Reversing Camera, DVD Screen or similar for being a good boy, then the hole isn't a problem.

Debbie

Okay, now that the photo has worked, I can describe it. This is a single DIN CD/radio. The braket to hold the UHF was pop rivetted to the bottom of the cradle that holds the CD player and the right angle brackets from the original Nissan fitment have been attached to the side of the CD cradle.

The facia is made of MDF and has been sprayed satin black and looks better in the flesh than it does with the flash shining on it. The MDF facia is slightly larger than the plastic rectangle opening and simply sits in place; held there by the facia, which has been cut-out to the correct shape.

Yeh, took ages to painstakingly place each grain of dust along those edges.......everybody knows that my rig NEVER goes off road, but I like to give that impression. Reckon I've done a pretty good job of achieving the effect, eh??!! hahaha
