Hi all,

Just recently i have had my Shocks replaced with Tough Dogs , had my rear Leaf Springs reset plus one extra leaf inserted as an extra and had a 40m lift in the rear and 30m in the front.

I have a bulbar which was fitted 6 months ago hence why i have upgrade and replaced my shocks and leafs.

Now since i have had this done when braking suddenly or quickly i get a loud snapping sound when going forward or backwards at slow speeds or high speeds.

The sounds of the snapping is like getting a rule and flexing it then letting go on to a hard surface , the sound is coming from the middle of the car.

I have taken it back to the 4wd place and they spent all day on it last week trying to find out where the noise was coming from , they informed me that they think the sound is coming from the Torsion bars , so they took them out cleaned them up and packed it with grease and the sound went away for 1 day and now its back.

Has anyone had this problem after replacing shocks and leafs on a navara with the lift?? Any help would be much appreciated as I’m pulling my hair out as the 4wd places can't even pin point it yet .

Stephen

Hi stev
The end of your torsion bar has a machined groove(adjuster end).
Mine made funny noises after I fitted a lift kit (heavier bars and springs)and what I found after looking at new and used cars was that some had this groove located inside the cross member and others had the cross member located in this groove I have mine in the groove. It may even be the adjuster bolt moving as weight comes on and off the torsion. I find I still get the noise if I hit bumps a bit hard, I also spray the adjuster and fixed end with lanotec. Make sure you can still get your finger into the gap between your upper bump stop as I had one place adjust my torsion bars after fitting my winch and the only downward travel was the rubber tops and dont forget to grease your steering stops as they can make scarey noises when dry.
Hope some of this helps.
regards ross
